It was established in 2016 by upgrading the erstwhile Rajendra Agricultural University, Pusa. The university is named after Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India and a renowned statesman. Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) administers the ICAR-AIEEA (UG) examination to Indian citizens seeking admission to all the courses of this institute.
Although, students applying for the undergraduate courses must pass their 10+2 examination from a recognized board.
