Dr. D. Y. Patil Biotechnology and Bioinformatics Institute, Pune (DYPBBI Pune), was established in 2004 as a constituent institute of Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapith.
DYPBBI Pune offers multiple undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Biotechnology, namely, B.Tech in Biotechnology and Medical Biotechnology, M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Integrated M.Tech in Biotechnology as well as PhD in Biotechnology. DYPBBI Pune also offers B.Tech in Computer Science and Design, and Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). DYPBBI Pune's goal is to flourish in all elements of academic life, in order to establish the institute as nationally and internationally acclaimed. Admissions to DYPBBI Pune is conducted online. Candidates need to qualify 10+2 level examinations, as well as the Institute’s Entrance Test (AIBTCET) or JEE-Main to be eligible for the undergraduate courses.
The faculty at DYPBBI are well experienced in their fields of research and teaching, and work to groom the students to become industry ready.
The Training and Placement Cell of DYPBBI organises campus placement events, as well as arranges internships and training programmes for the students.
The well-furnished labs at DYPBBI have the latest equipment to aid in research, which includes an Optimised Supercomputer, supported by the Science and Engineering Research Board, Department of Science and Technology (DST-SERB), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. DYPBBI Library is well-stocked with vast, updated editions of related texts, and offers e-library facilities to access digital and online resources. The classrooms at DYPBBI, are equipped with smartboards, projectors and microphones to better facilitate the teaching process. DYPBBI provides hostel facilities for boys and girls, as well as have provisions for indoor and outdoor games. DYPBBI also has an Atrium which hosts a multitude of both academic and social events. The entire campus is covered by high-speed Wi-Fi internet service. Medical facilities, along with doctors and trained medical staff, are also available.

Admission Procedure
Dr D. Y. Patil Biotechnology and Bioinformatics Institute conduct an online admission procedure. The students (co-ed) must qualify 10+2 level examination with at least 45% marks in subjects Physics, Chemistry and Biology to apply for the B.Tech courses in Biotechnology and Medical Biotechnology. In the area of B.Tech in Computer Science and Design, and Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, the requirement is 50% with the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Students are also required to qualify All India Biotechnology Online Proctor Based Common Entrance Test (AIBTCET) conducted by Dr D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, or Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-Main) to pursue the aforementioned courses.
In addition, DYPBBI Pune offers M.Tech integrated, M.Sc and PhD programs. To apply for the 5-year M.tech integrated course, candidates must pass the 10+2 level exam with at least 45% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Candidates for the MSc programme must possess a bachelor's degree (B.Sc., B.Sc. (Hon.), or B. Tech.) from an accredited institution.

Placements
Dr. D. Y. Patil Biotechnology and Bioinformatics Institute has a Placement Cell that arranges for internships and training facilities for its students. The training is aimed to be corporate specific. Mock interview sessions are held and group discussions are done. The students are encouraged to partake in such sessions to improve their skills. Companies such as Medtronics, Serum Institute of India, Lupin Pharmceuticals Inc, Reliance Life Sciences, Glenmark, Thyrocare, Lifecell, Sun Pharma and many more participate in campus placement events.
