Dinabandhu Andrews College, Kolkata (DAC Kolkata), was established in 1956 with the aim of providing migrant children from Bangladesh (then East Pakistan) who had settled in Garia and the surrounding regions in the aftermath of the Partition of India access to quality higher education. DAC Kolkata is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is affiliated to the University of Calcutta (CU).
Students can pursue 31 undergraduate (UG) and 2 postgraduate (PG) courses at DAC Kolkata. The UG courses offered at DAC Kolkata are: B.A in Bengali, English, History, Political Science, Philosophy, and Sanskrit; B.A (Hons) in Bengali, English (with/without Geography), History, Political Science, Philosophy; B.Com; B.Com (Hons); B.Sc in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Economics, Geography, and Molecular Biology; B.Sc (Hons) in Physics, Chemistry, Electronics, Mathematics, Economics (with/without Geography), Geography, Microbiology, Botany, and Zoology; and B.Sc (Major) in Sericulture. The two PG courses are for the degree of M.Sc in Electronics and Zoology. Admission to the aforementioned courses takes place online through the official website of DAC Kolkata.
