Cooch Behar College (CBC), was established in 1970 on the outskirts of the town of Cooch Behar on a sprawling green campus of 3.74-acre. Being set up during the Bangladesh War, one of the primary objectives of the Institute was to accommodate and enrol the refugees and war victims along the borders of Bangladesh and Assam, bringing them under the progressive light of higher education.
CBC Cooch Behar was recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in 1980, and is affiliated to the Cooch Behar Panchanan Barma University. CBC Cooch Behar offers undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) courses. The UG courses offered are B.A (Hons) in Bengali, English, History, Geography, Philosophy, Sanskrit, Political Science, and Economics; B.A (Gen) in Bengali, English, History, Geography, Philosophy, Sanskrit, Political Science, Economics, Physical Education, and Education; B.Sc (Hons) in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Computer Science; B.Sc (Gen) in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Computer Science; B.Com (Hons) in Accountancy; B.Com (Gen); BBA; and BBM. Apart from these, the 2 PG courses that students can pursue at CBC Cooch Behar are M.Sc in Geography; and M.A in English. The entire campus of CBC Cooch Behar is Wi-Fi enabled. The students are taught in spacious classrooms and the practical classes are held in 14 cutting-edge specialised laboratories. Apart from academics, the students at CBC Cooch Behar also enjoy multifarious sports and recreational activities. There are separate common rooms for boys and girls as well as a well-equipped multi-gymnasium. CBC Cooch Behar also has canteen facilities serving nutritious food, which can be accessed by the students and staff. Additionally, a seminar hall with a seating capacity of 100 is present on the CBC Cooch Behar Campus. CBC Cooch Behar makes judicious use of the UGC funds and has installed a photocopy machine, an overhead projector, a TV set, a public address system and a video cassette recorder for the benefit of the students. CBC Cooch Behar also has a digital College App for regular updates to be made easily available to the students and faculties.

The candidates who have passed their 10+2 board examinations and meet the eligibility criteria can apply online in the portal of Cooch Behar College, Cooch Behar. On choosing the preferred course, the application form opens which needs to be filled up, after which a password and username will be generated. Thereafter, an automated e-counselling process will follow for candidates who appear on the merit list. Selected candidates need to pay the provisional admission fees to secure a seat.
