The College of Social Work, Nirmala Niketan, Maharashtra (CSWNN, Maharashtra) was established in 1955 soley aiming to serve humanity and their social needs following the path of a religious society of Catholic Christian women named The Daughters of the Heart of Mary. CSWNN Maharashtra is recognized as an autonomous institution by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and offers a range of Bachelors, Masters and PhD courses based on liberal arts, social work entrepreneurship, therapeutic counseling degrees alongside diplomas and is much acclaimed in its academic excellence.In 1969 the institute got affiliation from University of Bombay for its MSW program under the Faculty of Arts. The college was helmed by The Institute of Social Service Trust till 1978 unless The Nirmala Niketan Institute was roped to be the parent body in 1978.
Government Scholarships and Freeships for the reserved category of students are provided based on specific terms and conditions alongside a wide range of merit based financial aid or awards for the students regardless of their category are also offered based on the academic performance in BSW, MSW and various other courses. The College of Social Work, Nirmala Niketan, has cultivated and successfully performed numerous renowned projects Anubhav Youth Development Centre at Goregaon for College and Community Youth, Spandan Project at Savroli and Anveer Padas at Talasari for Tribal Women and Children Pravas Project for the Elderly population in Goregaon Slum communities, Saksham SSR Project for TB and HIV/AIDS.
CSWNN Maharashtra constituted a Nirmiti Center for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship focused to guiding and mentoring the students through numerous academic programmes, rural and urban entrepreneurship development programmes so that they immediately after graduation can grab value- based collaboration. The students are recorded to get placed in various government and non-governmental organizations, hospitals, social enterprises, International Development Agencies, Corporate Social Responsibility Projects.

Admission Procedure

The College of Social Work Nirmala Niketan, Mumbai has an online application process. Interested Candidates need to fill out the Pre-Admission Online Registration form of the University of Mumbai which will be available on the web portal of the university.
Candidates need to fill out the Online Application form to the College. Once the form is submitted the Admission Team will verify the application. The candidate will receive an email from the admission team once the form is verified successfully
Candidates will have to upload the details of the University Application in the portal which will be available in the same email. Candidates who fulfil all the basic requirements as per the admission policy shall be called for the Personal Interview through email, and the college website.

The College of Social Work Nirmala Niketan, Mumbai has set up a Job Placement Cell (JPC) for its students to help them in finding jobs, suitable to their aspirations. Every year from the month of December to February, the JPC conducts Campus Recruitment Drive to help the graduating students with making effective employment decisions. D’Lima Scholarship (This scholarship is given to the M.S.W. student who secures the highest marks in Term Paper project), NILM Trust Scholarship (awarded to the M.S.W. student who secures the highest marks in the subject “Industry and Industrial Worker” on a need-cum-merit basis.), The Tressie Aranha Scholarship(given to candidates who have difficulty meeting the course's financial requirements), Ms Helen D’Silva Scholarship (given to the students from each class who secures the highest marks in fieldwork), Bhavani Shastri Memorial Scholarship (given to a deserving BSW student), Government of India Scholarships (Students who are physically handicapped or belonging to reserved categories can apply for government scholarships) are some of the scholarships that are provided by CSWNN.
