In 2000, the Orissa State Electronics Development Corporation Ltd. (a State Government Enterprise of Odisha) established the Centre for IT Education (CITE), later renamed to College of IT & Management Education, Bhubaneswar (CIME Bhubaneswar). This was done with the purpose of delivering professional IT, Management, and Engineering programs, as mandated by the Electronics and Information Technology Department of the Government of Odisha. As of 1st February 2006, the Government of Odisha took over CIME Bhubaneswar and it has been run as a self-sustaining Constituent College of Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) ever since. CIME Bhubaneswar is approved by AICTE.
