College of Engineering and Management, Kolaghat (CEM) is an engineering and management college located in Kolaghat Thermal Power Plant Township (K.T.P.P), Kolaghat. CEM Kolaghat was founded in 1998 by the founder chairman and the Minister-in-Charge of Power, Science and Technology and Non-conventional Energy Sources (Government of West Bengal)- Professor S.K. Sen, and the Vidyasagar Society for Integrated Learning (VSIL), Kolkata with the backing of West Bengal Power Development Corporation Limited (WBPDCL), the Government of West Bengal. CEM Kolaghat is affiliated with the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT). The college is unique in being the only engineering college in India to be located within an integrated campus of the Government Thermal Power Plant.
CEM Kolaghat is headed by an eminent and well-represented governing body consisting of famous educationists, industry managers, and higher education administrators. CEM Kolaghat is managed by a well-represented governing body comprising renowned educationists, top-level managers from industries and senior educational administrators. The college is governed under the chairmanship of Aroop Biswas, the Minister In Charge of the Department of Power, Government of West Bengal and sponsored by the VSIL, Kolkata.
CEM Kolaghat offers B.Tech. courses over six specialisations. There are nine academic departments- Computer Science and Engineering, Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physical and Material Sciences, Information Technology, Electronic and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Humanities, and the School of Mathematics and Computational Sciences and Department of Mathematical Sciences (SMCS & DMS). Admission of candidates is conducted through counselling based on the candidates’ JEE Main and WBJEE scores. Direct admission is also available at CEMK through decentralised counselling, e-counselling, and lateral entry.
CEM Kolaghat boasts highly knowledgeable and skilled faculty members that help the students develop expertise by providing both academic and practical knowledge about the courses. The college also offers financial assistance to economically-weaker students through various scholarship schemes- like the "Half-Free Ship Scholarship"- and educational loans. CEM Kolaghat is situated on a 32 acres-campus in the K.T.T.P. township in Kolaghat. CEM Kolaghat boasts state-of-the-art academic and extra-curricular facilities, including well-equipped academic and administrative buildings, classrooms, laboratories, libraries, workshops, hostels, sports grounds, and hostels. CEMK also organises and hosts several cultural celebrations and annual cultural and tech fests. Some of the flagship fests organized by the college include “Spandan”- the annual cultural fest and “Resonance”- the CEM Kolaghat techno-management fest.

Admission Procedure
The College of Engineering and Management, Kolaghat(co-ed) offers B.Tech courses in six specializations. Candidates must have a 10+2 qualification. Admission to the B.Tech. course will be awarded based on the candidate's performance in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) or West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE), which will be followed by a counselling session. Direct admission is also available at CEM Kolaghat through decentralised counselling, e-counselling, and lateral entry. The application forms are available online at the official website, however in order to register, applicants must first pass the entrance tests.
CEM Kolaghat also offers two years of Post-graduate degree (Master of Technology) with various specializations. Interested candidates can apply through their official website. To apply for their M.Tech degree, candidates must qualify for an entrance examination GATE with valid marks.
