Chotanagpur Law College, Ranchi (CLC Ranchi), was established in 1954, and was initially affiliated to the Bihar University, and then to Ranchi University. The vision of CLC Ranchi is to shift from studying law predominantly through textbooks, case law, and statutes to experimental learning through direct engagement with present social concerns. CLC Ranchi is approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI) and recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Students can pursue 1 undergraduate (UG) and 1 postgraduate (PG) course at CLC Ranchi. The UG course is Bachelor of Legislative Law (LL.B), and candidates must be a graduate of a recognised University and qualify for the Common Law Aptitude Test (CLAT) to be eligible for this course. The PG course, Master of Legislative Law (LL.M) can be pursued by students who have passed the LL.B degree and qualified for the entrance exam at CLC Ranchi.

The highly qualified and experienced faculty at CLC Ranchi aims for an atmosphere that is academic, professional, confidential, and safe for the students. CLC Ranchi provides the necessary infrastructural support to ensure the all-around development of the students. The Library at CLC Ranchi has a large collection of printed texts and provides access to various digital and online resources as well. The library also has a sound room that can be availed by the students and staff. Regular classes at CLC Ranchi, are conducted in spacious classrooms equipped with multimedia technology and internet access which aid in the teaching-learning process. The CLC Ranchi Campus also has a large and well-equipped auditorium and moot court for all to avail.

Admission Procedure

Chotanagpur Law College, Ranchi offers LLB and LLM programmes. Candidates must be graduates from a reputable university or an institution equivalent in order to be admitted to the LLB program at CLC Ranchi, and they must also perform well on the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). Additionally, candidates seeking LLM admission in CLC Ranchi must pass the L.L.B. Entrance Test and have completed their LLB program within the past three or five years.

Faculty

Chotanagpur Law College, Ranchi has a well-trained and knowledgeable faculty. The goal of the faculty at CLC Ranchi is to move away from teaching law largely via books and case laws and toward experiential learning through the practical learning experience with issues that are of contemporary societal relevance.
