Central University of Tamil Nadu, Tiruvarur (CUTN, Tiruvarur) and eight other Central Universities were established by the Indian government by a parliamentary act in 2009. It is a part of the larger role that the Central Government has taken on in opening up higher education to candidates from the socially disadvantaged groups. The university began operations in November 2009 at the Collectorate Annexe in Thiruvarur, 60 kilometres to the east of Thanjavur, with eight M.A. English Studies students. But presently, CUTN, Tiruvarur is situated seven kilometres to the northwest of Thiruvarur, on the banks of a significant tributary of the renowned Cauvery river. CUTN, Tiruvarur aims to provide quality education and to create a diversified pool of highly-skilled professionals. CUTN, Tiruvarur is dedicated to offering integrated courses incorporating holistic learning experiences. CUTN, Tiruvarur aspires to impart knowledge and to provide infrastructural and academic facilities for its seekers. CUTN, Tiruvarur offers postgraduate , undergraduate and doctoral courses across the faculties of education, law, management, arts, science, allied health sciences, and engineering. Admission Procedure
Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur (CUTN, Thiruvarur) conducts its admission procedure according to the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC). The students interested in seeking admission at the esteemed College can apply through the university's official website. The admissions for the undergraduate courses (B.Sc.B.Ed, BPA) are made according to the merits secured by the students in their 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognised board in the relevant subject discipline. The selection of the applicants for the postgraduate degree courses in Master of Science (M.Sc), Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Technology (M.Tech), Mastert of Performing Arts (MPA) is made according to the merits secured by the applicants in their undergraduate courses in the relevant subject discipline from a recognised university. For those who want to apply Master of PHilosophy (M.Phill) degree they must complete their a bachelor's degree from a recognized institute with philosophy or any related subject as the major subject. For the doctoral degree courses (PH.D) in the selection of the applicants is made according to the merits secured by the applicants in the postgraduate degree course or MPhil degree course in the relevant subject discipline from a recognised university.
