Founded 130 years ago, Canara College, Mangalore (CC Mangalore) is an esteemed institution under the patronage of Canara High School Association. Established by the visionary social reformer, Late Sri Ammembal Subba Rao Pai, CC Mangalore began offering quality higher education in 1973, in response to the need of the local community. CC Mangalore is located in the heart of Mangaluru at Mahatma Gandhi Road, Kodialbail and covers 2.28 acres. CC Mangalore is affiliated with Mangalore University and holds recognition under Sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act, 1956, with the approval of the Government of Karnataka. CC Mangalore boasts of a sprawling campus, spread over an area of 9229.44 sqm, providing ample space for students to learn and grow. With a built-up area of 3239.26 sqm, CC Mangalore has 36 classrooms to accommodate its students. Twenty of these classrooms are equipped with LCD facilities to ensure an effective teaching-learning process. The labs at CC Mangalore are state-of-the-art, and equipped with the latest hardware and software. The library at CC Mangalore is a treasure trove of knowledge, with a rich collection of 45,931 text and reference books, 10 Journals, and 13 newspapers. CC Mangalore also provides access to e-resources through a dedicated webpage, which is utilized actively by students and faculty. With an active membership of INFLIBNET N-LIST, CC Mangalore provides access to over 6000 e-journals and 1,64,300 e-books on various topics. CC Mangalore also has departmental libraries to cater to the specific needs of various departments. To foster a conducive environment for learning, CC Mangalore has a multipurpose air-conditioned seminar hall that is also ICT-enabled. This seminar hall has a seating capacity of 150 and is ideal for hosting seminars, programs related to co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, and even staff meetings. CC Mangalore also provides additional venues for cultural activities, such as an open-air stage, an auditorium, and an air-conditioned seminar hall. CC Mangalore takes the holistic development of its students seriously and provides ample facilities to facilitate physical activities. The CC Mangalore gym and indoor games hall is available to students interested in playing table tennis, chess, and carom. The quadrangle is ideal for outdoor games such as Ball Badminton, Volleyball, Throwball, Kabaddi, and Tug of War. The CC Mangalore canteen ensures that students don't have to worry about lunchtime hunger pangs, while on-campus medical facilities ensure that students are taken care of in case of health-related issues.
