Founded on 2nd April 1927 by Sir Henry Wheeler, the then Governor of Bihar & Orissa, Bihar Veterinary College, Patna (BVC Patna), is the fifth oldest veterinary college in undivided India. After independence, BVC Patna saw significant development and earned high recognition for its academic excellence in teaching and research in the field of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, as well as for its modern Veterinary clinical services to the community. With the establishment of Bihar Agricultural University at Sabour Bhagalpur on 5th August 2010, BVC Patna became one of the pioneer colleges of the youngest and most progressive agricultural University in the country. It boasts 17 well-equipped departments, a modern Veterinary Clinical Complex, and a Composite Livestock Farm. Currently, BVC Patna is one of the constituent colleges of Bihar Animal Sciences University.
