Established in 1974, Bidhan Chandra Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Nadia (BCKV Nadia) is headquartered in Mohanpur, Nadia and has been contributing to the development of agricultural education, research and extension for over four decades. Initially, BCKV Nadia comprised two faculties - Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences. However, in 1980, the North Bengal campus of BCKV Nadia was established in Pundibari, Cooch Behar, to cater to the agricultural education and research needs in the northern part of West Bengal, where the agro-ecological characteristics are distinct from that of South Bengal. In 1995, the faculty of Veterinary Sciences was separated out to establish a new university, West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences. Later, in 2001, BCKV Nadia was further split into two agricultural universities with the establishment of Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya (UBKV), utilizing the infrastructural facilities of the erstwhile North Bengal Campus of BCKV Nadia and its other facilities located in the districts of Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, Malda, and North and South Dinajpur. BCKV Nadia is approved by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
BCKV Nadia offers Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Technology degrees and three years of post-graduate Master of Science degrees with various specializations. BCKV Nadia also offers PhD degree with a specialization.

Admission Procedure
Bidhan Chandra Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Nadia offers four years of bachelor's degree ( Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Technology ) and three years of post-graduate ( Master of Science) degree with various specializations. Interested candidates can apply through their official website. To apply for their degree candidate must complete basic admission criteria. BCKV Nadia conducts admission as per the guidelines of the Indian Council of Agriculture Research. For their B.Tech and B.sc degree candidates must complete higher secondary with PCM with English as a mandatory subject and minimum 70% marks. For M . Tech degree candidates qualify for an entrance examination in West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) with valid marks.
