Bharathi Women's College, Chennai (BWC Chennai), is a government institution established in 1964. Recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC), BWC Chennai is affiliated to the University of Madras.

The selection of the applicants for the doctoral degree courses are made according to the merits secured by the students in their postgraduate degree course in the relevant subject discipline from a recognised university.
