Bharath Medical College and Hospital (BMCH), Chennai was established to impart medical and allied health science education among the students. The college, affiliated with the Bharat Institute of Higher Education and Research and approved by the Medical Council of Indias and the University Grants Commission provides undergraduate degree courses in the fields of medical science and allied health sciences.

The selection for the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree requires a student to qualify for the 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognised university in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology along with merits secured in the National Entrance Eligibility Test (NEET). Admission for the MBBS course is made according to the counselling system. For admissions in the Allied Health Science courses, a student must secure a minimum of 50% marks in the 10+2 or equivalent qualifying examination from a recognised board in Physics, Chemistry, biology or biotechnology along with English.
