Bengal Institute of Technology, Kolkata (BITK) was set up in 2000 on a sprawling lush green campus on the Basanti Highway, on the outskirts of the metropolis. BIT, Kolkata is located within a 10 minutes driving distance from Science City and is well connected by road. Auto services can be availed from Sealdah Railway Station to BIT, Kolkata as well.
BIT, Kolkata is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and affiliated to the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT).
Students can pursue any of the 4 undergraduate (UG) courses that are offered by BIT, Kolkata. The courses are for the degree of Bachelor of Technology in the areas like Biotechnology, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, and Computer Science and Engineering (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning). Students need to pass the 10+2 level examination and qualify WBJEE or JEE Main in order to be eligible for the aforementioned courses.

BIT, Kolkata Library has over 35000 volumes of books under more than 3000 titles and subscribes to more than 10 magazines, 2 daily newspapers and 29 national and international journals. The Digital Section of the Library uses Knimbus E-Library Solutions allowing access to over 5300 e-books and online journals such as Springer, JSTOR, Taylor & Francis, PUBMED, etc. The collection also includes around 500 digital drives, and books for competitive examinations such as GATE, MAT, etc. The Library is fully Wi-Fi enabled, and also has a Book Bank facility that students can avail of. Promoting a healthy lifestyle among youngsters, BIT, Kolkata has provisions for outdoor sports such as football and cricket, as well as indoor games like table tennis and carrom.
The various departments have course-specific specialised laboratories equipped with the latest technology, as well as their own Departmental Libraries. Theoretical classes are conducted in spacious classrooms by experienced faculty. BIT, Kolkata also provides shuttle services for the students and staff.
Admission Procedure
Eligible candidates who have passed their 10+2 board examinations and have qualified West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations (WBJEE) or Joint Entrance Examinations Board Mains (JEE Mains) can opt for Bengal Institute of Technology, Kolkata while appearing for the counseling procedure. The shortlisted candidates must verify their documents and pay the admission fees to secure a seat.
