Bengal Fine Arts College, Chandpara (BFAC), which came into existence in 1979, is committed to the promotion of art not only as a social requirement but as a psychological demand of the young minds of the modern age. BFAC Chandpara strives to be an ideal Institution with efficient faculty promoting art and culture among youth and lending stability to social life. BFAC Chandpara is affiliated with Indira Kala Sangit Vishwavidyalaya and recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

BFAC Chandpara, functions towards actualising a clear set of objectives, as follows: Uplifting the educationally and culturally backward people of the society by imparting education and adequate training. Managing and maintaining schools and colleges for teaching Visual Arts - graphic and plastic, and Performing Arts - Music, Dance, and Drama. Organising seminars, conferences, performances, and exhibitions in the field of Visual and Performing Arts. Granting recognition to scholars and performers in various art media, for their outstanding achievements. Fostering and developing folk art and music. Organising exhibitions in India and abroad for the promotion of Indian culture. Publishing books and periodicals.

Two undergraduate courses, Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and in Sculpture, can be pursued at BFAC Chandpara. Candidates should qualify 10+2 level or equivalent examination to be eligible for both courses. There is an age limit of 26 years for male candidates, with a three years relaxation for reserved category students. This limit is not applicable to female candidates. The courses are full-time degree courses of two years, and there are 50 available seats in each.

BFAC Chandpara is furnished with numerous subject-relevant books. It also has a slide projector and a film projector, along with a valuable collection of documentary video cassettes and transparencies. They have dedicated and qualified teaching staff under two departments. BFAC Chandpara supervises the courses on Painting, Sculpture, Applied Arts and Graphics, while the Faculty of Performing Arts is dedicated to Vocal Music, Instrumental Music, Dance and Drama Percussion. The staff works together with the students to inspire and cultivate the artistic, cultural and aesthetic spirit in all.

The faculty of BFAC Chandpara also strives to organise seminars and cultural events to create greater awareness of folk arts, grant recognition to scholars, and promote indigenous art and culture locally and globally.

Admission Procedure

Admission to the Bengal Fine Arts College, Chandpara takes place online. The prospectus for admission can be downloaded and the application form along with the supporting documents can be uploaded through the official website of the Institute. Candidates should qualify 10+2 level examination to be eligible for the undergraduate courses. There is an upper age limit of 26 years (as on 31 July in the year of admission) on the male candidates, with a 3-year relaxation for S.C./S.T./O.B.C. candidates. For female candidates, there is no age limit. Candidates are to appear for an Aptitude Admission Test, on the whose merit final selections would be made.

Faculty

Bengal Fine Arts College, Chandpara has dedicated and qualified teaching staff under two departments. The Faculty of Visual Arts supervises the courses on Painting, Sculpture, Applied Arts and Graphics, while the Faculty of Performing Arts is dedicated to Vocal Music, Instrumental Music, Dance and Drama Percussion. The staff works together with the students to inspire and cultivate the artistic, cultural and aesthetic spirit in all.
