Bangabasi College, Kolkata (BCK), founded in 1887 under private management, was inspired by the genius of Pandit Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, and is affiliated to the University of Calcutta. The Institution's goal was twofold: first, to meet the growing demand for higher education, and second, to instil a sense of nationalism in the young learners under colonial rule.
