Banasthali Vidyapith, Banasthali (BV Banasthali), is the only all women residential institution in India, located in the heart of Banasthali at the Tonk District in Rajasthan. BV Banasthali was founded by Pandit Hiralal Shastri in 1935 initially as Shri Shantabai Shiksha Kutir in the name and Memoriam of his daughter with 6 girls. Now, BV Banasthali offers courses from pre-primary to doctorate level of education. Banasthali Vidyapith was accorded with the introduction of its undergraduate courses in 1943, and exactly forty years later it was accredited as deemed university by the UGC [University Grant Commission]. As BV Banasthali started expanding its higher education pursuits with undergraduate courses, Shastri devised a pedagogic system emphasised on the inclusion of Indian culture and its varied other nationalistic approaches. This experimental pedagogic methodology is aimed to sustain a balance in the development of the students’ personality and their conviction in expression by leading a simple lifestyle aided by the rural environment in which the university is located. The experimentation is evolved in the form of Panchmukhi Shiksha- toiling into the five aspects of education, namely Physical, Practical, Aesthetic, Moral and Intellectual and aims at all round harmonious development of the students’ personality.

BV Banasthali upholds an area extending up to 850 acres, subjugated to different statures and sizes with individual academic departments, and administrative and housing buildings. BV Banasthali also provides courier, post office and BSNL telephone exchange and banking services along with shopping complexes. The entire University campus is networked through optical fibre and powerful layer 3 and layer 2. The network is secure through a hardware firewall. There are numerous routers in the hostels to supply internet into the PCs’ installed in the hostel rooms for the benefit of the student which is shared among all the inmates residing in one room. The IT infrastructure enables the smooth functioning of the smart classrooms and high-end computing laboratories for CAD [Computer Aided Design], Scientific Computing, Visual Design, etc. BV Banasthali covers a wide array of disciplines from undergraduate to postgraduate to doctoral studies. The disciplines titularly ranges in the divisions of, Social Science and Humanities - Economics, History, Sociology, Geography, Psychology; Fine Arts- Textile Designing, Architecture, Performing Arts; Earth Sciences; Life SciencesBio Science, Bio-technology, Pharmacy; Management Studies; Aviation Science; Home Science; Law, segregated with varied specialised degrees; Journalism; Nursing; Engineering and Mathematics. To opt for the courses like Nursing, LLM [Law, Masters] B.A. B.Ed., BSc. B.Ed and MBA one has to appear for the merit-cum-aptitude test and the rest admissions are based on the merit of qualifying examination, according to the minimum eligibility criteria categorised from course to course in the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. For the aspirants interested to apply for Ph.D, they have to appear in the Research Entrance Test (RET) except for the subjects- Fine Arts, Visual Arts, Music, Dance & Design. The candidates must hold a Master’s degree to apply for the Research Entrance Test, which is mandatory to pursue their research work except for the ones who have qualified NET [National Eligibility Test] or M.Phil.

After granting the degree the students are offered with decent placements, also helping the students with preparatory training in skilled based programmes and workshops. The faculty members of each department make sure of the fruitful conduct of Panchmukhi Shiksha, who delves into individual perspective of students, thereby guiding them into the complete moral and social development of the students’ mind making rigorous attempts to construct the self-resilience and impart values to their students beyond the typical book learning and memory upliftment typical system of education.

Admission Procedure

Banasthali Vidyapith, Banasthali conducts its admission procedure according to the norms of the University Grants Commission and the admission guidelines of the All Indian Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The students interested in applying at BV, Banasthali can apply through the official website of the institute. The admissions for the undergraduate degree courses are based upon the merits secured by the applicants in their 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognised board with a minimum of 45% marks in PCM. For the students applying for postgraduate degree courses, the selection of the applicants is made upon the merits secured by the applicants in their undergraduate degree courses in the relevant discipline of science and engineering from a recognised university. The selection of the applicants for the doctoral degree courses is made upon the merits secured by the applicants in their postgraduate degree courses from a recognised university.
