Assam Institute of Management, Guwahati (AIM Guwahati) was set up in 1988 as a self-governing agency of the Government of Assam. AIM Guwahati is affiliated with Assam Science and Technology University (ASTU) and sanctioned by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). AIM Guwahati conducts its admission procedure according to the guidelines of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The selection of the applicants for the postgraduate degree courses in Master of Business Administration (MBA) is made according to the merits secured by the applicants in their undergraduate courses in the relevant subject discipline from a recognized university.

The library also maintains a collection of newspaper clippings in diverse areas, a collection of corporate annual reports, audio/video/CD reference materials, reports of various projects undertaken by students, publications, and reports of committees, etc. AIM Guwahati provides a Wi-Fi facility throughout the campus, which allows students to access the internet from anywhere on the campus. AIM Guwahati has a large auditorium that is designed for conducting large events such as conferences, seminars, and workshops. AIM Guwahati has conference rooms that are designed for conducting small meetings and discussions.
