Alagappa Institute of Technology, Chennai (AIT Chennai) is a distance education programme running institution which has been designated as study centres for personal contact programmes as well as information centres for multiple Universities to which AIT Chennai is affiliated to.
The main focus of the AIT Chennai is to provide education in emerging academic disciplines, vocational programs, and performing arts. AIT Chennai was founded in September 2001 by the grandson of the founder of Alagappa Schools, Colleges, and Alagappa University in Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu, India. AIT Chennai is an extremely important part of the Alagappa group of Institutions, which is involved in primary, collegiate, and post-graduate education.
The AIT Chennai is the Information Technology division of the Alagappa group, and provides up-to-date educational courses in information technology to meet the needs of the community. AIT Chennai has been recognized by leading universities in South India, such as Alagappa University, Pondicherry University, Tamil Nadu Open University, Anna University, and Madras University. The aforementioned universities have awarded AIIT with the status of Study Center, Personal Contact Programs (PCP) center, Information Center for their distant undergraduate and postgraduate academic programs.
Additionally, AIT Chennai provides computer training to more than 1500 Alagappa school students every year and has successfully trained over 1000 students in information technology. AIT Chennai has its headquarters in Chennai and has established subsidiaries in Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu, Jamshedpur, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. The institution is continuously enhancing its educational programs and participating in challenging IT projects in various disciplines for domestic and international clients.
