The Agricultural College and Research Institute (ACARI), Vazhavachanur was established in 2014 as a constituent College of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU). The 110-acre sprawling Campus is located in the Thiruvannamalai district on State Highway 6, on the land allotted from the state seed farm. ACARI, Vazhavachanur Campus has wetland and garden land ecosystems, as well as bore-well irrigation and a canal irrigation system.

The main source of water for the irrigated crops is the Thenpennai River, which runs south of the location. ACARI, Vazhavachanur offers 1 undergraduate course for students to pursue B.Sc (Hons) in Agriculture. The courses are approved by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), and ACARI, Vazhavachanur is affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU). Regular classes are conducted by highly experienced faculty members who work tirelessly towards imparting quality education. Regular campus interviews are conducted, with students being placed at organisations such as Kovai Pazhamudir Nilayam, ITC Guntur, Rasi Seeds, Shywin Bio-Tech, Indian Farmer Landscape Irrigation Systems, Integrated Crop Solutions P Ltd, Texmo Industries, R.P.D. ACARI, Vazhavachanur provides several up-to-date infrastructural facilities to benefit the students. The Print Section of the Library of ACARI, Vazhavachanur has 6768 textbooks and reference books, 5 printed journals, 5 magazines and 6 magazines. The e-resources at the Digital Library include more than 3000 e-books, including CAB e-books, Indian e-books, ScienceDirect e-books, CeRA-Science Direct e-books, Springer e-books, more than 2700 J-Gate Plus (CeRA Journals) as well as KrishiKosh and KrishiPrabha e-theses. The students are accommodated in separate hostels for boys and girls at ACARI, Vazhavachanur . There are 49 rooms in the hostel for boys and 72 rooms in the hostel for girls on a triple-sharing basis. The Hostels of ACARI, Vazhavachanur also have mess facilities where the menu is changed quarterly.

ACARI, Vazhavachanur also stresses on the importance of sports and thus provides facilities for several indoor and outdoor games like football, cricket, badminton- with 1 outside court and 4 courts inside the ACARI, Vazhavachanur Hostel premises, ball badminton, basketball with separate courts for boys and girls, volleyball with separate courts for boys and girls, kho kho, kabaddi, parallel bar, and 2 shuttle cock facilities, table tennis boards, 4 carrom boards and 4 chess boards in each hostel. ACARI, Vazhavachanur also has a fully equipped indoor gymnasium facility for the students to avail. Regular theory classes are conducted in spacious classrooms while practical sessions take place in course-specific cutting-edge laboratories along with a Computer Centre with 40 computers. ACARI, Vazhavachanur has a dispensary with three rooms, an outpatient room, a pharmacy and a full-time medical officer, staff nurse and female nursing assistant. Additionally, an Omni van is available for transporting students to nearby hospitals in case of any medical emergency. Other facilities at ACARI, Vazhavachanur include CCTV surveillance, laundry, ironing, saloon and cycle repair.

Admission Procedure

Eligible candidates can apply for admission to Agricultural College and Research Institute, Vazhavachanur in the course of B.Sc in Agriculture (Hons) on the admission portal of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) and register themselves after duly filling up the forms. The students are shortlisted based on their merit on the previous academic examination after which they need to go through an online counseling procedure. The selected students are required to verify their documents and follow the subsequent admission procedure for securing a seat.
