Academy of Maritime Education and Training University (AMETU), Kancheepuram was established in 1993 and is the first Deemed to be University for maritime-related education, training and research in India.
A member of the International Association of Maritime Universities, AMETU Kancheepuram is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Students can pursue 17 undergraduate (UG), 6 postgraduate (PG), and 13 doctorate (PhD) courses at AMETU Kancheepuram. The UG courses offer the degrees of Bachelor of Science (B.Sc), Bachelor of Engineering (B.E), Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), and Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc); while the PG courses offer Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Engineering (M.E), and Master of Science (M.Sc). Admission to AMETU Kancheepuram takes place both online and offline.

The library at AMETU Kancheepuram has an extensive collection of books and periodicals, as well as a digital section providing members access to a host of e-resources. Students are provided hostel accommodations at AMETU Kancheepuram, with a mess facility providing multi-cuisine meals. Recognising the importance of an active lifestyle for the students, AMETU Kancheepuram has provisions for various games and sports, as well as a well-equipped indoor gymnasium, a swimming pool and recreation rooms. Regular classes at AMETU Kancheepuram are conducted in smart classrooms, while the practical sessions take place in course-specific specialised laboratories and cutting-edge workshops. The fully Wi-Fi-enabled Campus of AMETU Kancheepuram also has a healthcare centre that students and staff can avail in case of any emergency.

Admission Procedure
Academy of Maritime Education and Training University, Kancheepuram offers students both online and offline admission alternatives. If the application is being submitted offline, interested students must collect up the form from the admissions office and pay the applicable charge. For the online admission method, students must apply through the official website and pay the application fee online. The next step is passing the university entrance exam, which will determine the students' final admission.
