A.K. Choudhury School of Information Technology (AKCSIT), Kolkata  was established in 2005 to play a pioneering role in disseminating information technology knowledge in the national context and to foster international standard R&D activities through active collaboration with prestigious universities, institutes, and industries.

A constituent of the University of Calcutta, AKCSIT Kolkata offers 1 undergraduate (UG), 3 postgraduate (PG) as well as PhD courses. The UG course offers the degree of Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech), while the PG courses offer Master of Technology (M.Tech) and Master of Computer Applications (MCA). Admission to the UG course takes place through the WBJEE counselling process, while in the case of PG, admission is based on merit in written tests and interviews.

Members can also avail the reprographic facilities present within the AKCSIT Kolkata Library. Regular classes at AKCSIT Kolkata take place in spacious classrooms, while practical sessions are conducted in specialised well-equipped laboratories. The practical labs at AKCSIT Kolkata include Computer Vision Lab, Mobile Computing Lab, Network Security Lab, Database and Data Analytics Lab, Programming Lab, Operating System Lab, Basic Hardware and Communication Engineering Lab, and Digital Electronics and Microprocessor Lab.
