SUBJECT: Entrance test for postgraduate diploma programme in design (PGDPD) to be held on January 7, 2006, and entrance test for graduate diploma programme in design (GDPD) to be held on January 8, 2006.

ELIGIBILITY: For PGDPD: Candidates having a bachelors degree (including those appearing for the qualifying examinations during the academic year 2005-06) in the areas specified for each discipline are eligible to apply. Following are the specifications: (a) Industrial design: For product design: BTech, BE (mechanical, mechatronics), BArch; For Furniture and interior design: BTech, BE (civil engineering), BArch interior design; For ceramic and glass design: BArch, BFA (ceramics and glass design/technology), or graduates in other disciplines with experience in ceramics and glass related fields; For transportation and automobile design: BTech, BE (automobile, mechanical, mechatronics)/BArch, product design from reputed institutes; For toy design and development: BTech, BE, BCA, BIT, BArch, BFA, applied arts, child development, therapy, and graduates in any other areas with aptitude and proven talent for toy design and interactive media. (b) Textile, apparel and accessory design: For textile design: BFA, applied arts, textile/handloom technology/knitwear/fashion design/home science with textile and clothing; For apparel design and merchandising: BFA, applied arts, textile/knitwear/fashion design or graduates in merchandising or any other disciplines with proven proficiency in drawing and garment construction/presentation; For lifestyle accessory design: BFA, applied arts, design, BArch, interior design, accessory design and relevant disciplines in technology/engineering. (c) Communication design: For graphic design: BFA, applied arts, BArch, interior design , graduates with experience in graphic design; For animated film design: BFA, applied arts, design, BArch, communication media film and TV, mass media, graduates with experience in animation; For film and video communication: humanities, arts, visual communication, mass media or graduates in any other discipline with relevant work experience. (d) IT integrated design: For new media design: BFA, applied arts, BTech, BIT, BArch, visual communication, mass media, BSc in computer science, BCA (knowledge of scripting, authoring and graphic tools essential); For software and user interface design: BE (computer science) BArch, BFA, BTech (ele), BIT, applied psychology, accessory design with relevant work experience; For information and digital design: BArch, applied arts, BFA (visual communication/painting), BIT, BCA, BSc (computer science/statistics/maths), mass media, cognitive psychology (knowledge of scripting, authoring and graphic tools essential) with relevant work experience. (e) Inter-disciplinary design studies: For strategic design management: any recognised three-year bachelors degree in fine arts, humanities, science or a four-year degree in engineering, technology, etc. with work experience of minimum two years in a design/design-led and allied organisation.

PARTICULARS: Admission tests for eligible candidates for graduate and postgraduate diploma programmes will be held at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kanpur, Kochi, Calcutta, Mumbai and Dubai. Application forms and prospectus can be obtained from select branches of Bank of India listed on the NID website on payment of Rs 850 towards the cost of the form plus Rs 30 as bank charges.
