SSCB lead continues

Kokrajhar, Nov. 26: The Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) today continued to lead the medals tally in the Protima Boro memorial 36th National Junior Archery championship, 2013, being held at the Sports Authority of India, Special Area Games Complex, Kathalguri here. The team added three more medals to its kitty — taking the medal tally to 10 — seven gold and three bronze medals.

Hosts Assam added two more medals to their tally to hold on to the third place with 12 medals — two gold, nine silver and one bronze. Assam bagged silver medals in the recurve 70m team event in both the boys and girls’ divisions. Punjab are in second place with five medals — three gold, one silver and a bronze.

SSCB won two gold medals in the 50+50m boys’ compound round and the silver in the recurve 70m team boys event.

SSCB player Ch. Jignas won gold in the 50+50m boys’ compound round. Rajat Chauhan won the silver while Sudhakar Paswan of Jharkhand won the bronze.

In the girls’ 50+50m compound round, Daudhwal Swati of Rajashtan won the gold, Lakshmi Saikonda of Maharashtra won the silver and Sorang Yami of Arunachal Pradesh won the bronze.

Jharkhand are currently in fourth place with 11 medals, including two gold, four silver and five bronze followed by Uttar Pradesh with one gold and one bronze. Rajashtan, Odisha and Kerala have won one gold medal each.

Sunday chess: The PC Borooah Chess Academy is going to organise the 13th P.C. Borooah First Sunday Chess Tournament on the academy premises here on Sunday. The tournament is open to all and the top five position holders will be awarded with cash prizes and trophies will be presented up to the 10th position holder. The top three position holders in under-7, under-9, under-11, under-13 and under-15 categories will also be awarded trophies.
