Bhubaneswar, Nov. 29: Khandagiri police today arrested a 22-year-old person for allegedly threatening a girl to post her photographs on the social network.

The Dumduma resident, identified as Dilu Sahu, was arrested after the mother of the 17-year-old girl had lodged a complaint with the police last week.

The police said that both Sahu and the victim’s family were neighbours and had a dispute between them. “Both the families had a amicable settlement one month ago after the victim’s mother lodged a complaint that Sahu had taken photographs of the girl and threatened her to circulate the picture on a social networking site,” said a police official.

But since the amicable settlement, Sahu has been allegedly following the girl, who is a matriculate, and threatening to kidnap. Sahu along with his friends used to pass lewd remarks at the girl. This made her mother lodge the complaint.

“Since then, Sahu had been absconding. We arrested him today and later produced him before court,” said inspector in charge of Khandagiri police station Sanjib Satpathy.

However, the police are also investigating whether Sahu has circulated the photographs on any social networking site.

On November 18, Laxmisagar police arrested two youths for allegedly posting and circulating obscene photographs of a 22-year-old girl on a social networking site.
