Bhubaneswar, June 3: Admissions into 27 postgraduate, sponsored and MPhil courses in Utkal University for 2014-15 academic session will begin from June 5.
Application forms for postgraduate and sponsored courses will be available online. The online application forms will be available from June 5 on the varsity’s websites www.utkaluniversity.ac.in and www.eadmission.utkaluniversity.ac.in.
Students can find the procedures of e-admission and eligibility criteria for various courses, guidelines for deposit of application fee and other necessary information online and submit the forms till June 28.
The last date for receipt of hardcopy of the e-application form along with relevant documents is July 4. The entrance tests for various courses have been scheduled from July 9 to July 19.
The application form for MPhil will be available on the university website from July 1, said a varsity official.
In another development, the varsity has cancelled admission to three self-financing courses citing shortage of faculty members. The university had some 16 self-financing courses, including three that are being discontinued this year. These three courses are — master of rural development, postgraduate diploma in yoga education and master of tourism and hospitality management.
“Two courses – rural development and tourism and hospitality management – cannot continue this year since there are not enough faculty members,” said the varsity’s postgraduate council chairman G.K. Panda. “However, if the government provides teachers, we will consider resuming the courses next year,” he said.
Students are not interested to pursue these courses and there are not many applicants either, he added.
