Bhubaneswar: Film and jatra actress Usasi Mishra on Wednesday slammed the police for failing to arrest all those who had manhandled her while she was going to stage an opera at Derang in Kaniha police limits in Angul district on Sunday night.

Addressing a news conference, Mishra said: "Three days have passed after the incident. What have the police been doing for the last three days? I am passing through a mental ordeal. I want justice."

The police have so far been able to arrest only Dusmant Behera, the driver of main accused Indramani Sahu.

Sahu and his two sons had led a mob that attacked Mishra on Sunday night.

Odia film fraternity has lent its support to Mishra. Film star and BJD MP Siddhant Mohapatra and BJP leader Sritam Das were also present in the news conference. Mishra said: "An attempt was made to rape me. My dresses were torn. They dragged me by my hair."

She also alleged that she did not get the required support from the jatra party owner, who is also a BJD MP. "I spoke to the owner of Eastern Blue and MP Soumya Ranjan Patnaik. He assured me to take up this issue. But he has not intimated me as to what has he done so far," she lamented, adding that if proper security was not provided to her it would be tough for people like her to continue in the industry."

"Our job demands that we go to places at night. If we don't get security from the administration, how do we work?"she said. Condemning the attack, actor and MP Siddhanta Mahapatra said: "This is a sensitive issue and should not be overlooked. We are in touch with the administration and will submit a memorandum to higher authorities."
