Bhubaneswar, April 29: Students of city schools were in a celebratory mood after the result of JEE (Main) was announced as they basked in the glory of classmates and friends, who successfully cracked the examinations. Teachers also revelled at the success of their students.

Around 106 students from DAV Public School, Chandrashekharpur, qualified for the JEE (Advanced) out of 244 aspirants (43.44 per cent) - the highest for any individual school. Abhishek Sahu scored 290 and emerged at the top.

The cut-off for general candidates this year was 100.

At Mother's Public School, 141 students qualified for the JEE (Advanced) with Subham Acharya top scoring with 305 marks.

SAI International School also fared well with 29 students qualifying for the second part of the entrance examinations. Siddhartha Chinmay with 285, Sandeep Patnayak with 259 and Somydipta Satpathy with 256 marks topped the chart for the school.

Among the coaching centres, 208 students from the classroom programmes and 57 from non-classroom programmes of FIITJEE Bhubaneswar and Cuttack qualified for the JEE (Advanced).

Barada P. Debasish Panda, a student of FIITJEE Bhubaneswar's four-year classroom programme, scored 328 marks and is expected to top the state charts.

"I am happy with the score and owe my success to my teachers. It has also helped me qualify the National Talent Search Examination, Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana and National Standard Examination in Chemistry. I am retuning to my studies with renewed focus and attending revision classes for the JEE (Advanced) diligently as I do not want to leave any stone unturned before the final barrier," Panda said.

BJB Junior College student Rakesh Bal, another student of the institute, has scored 285 marks.

Coaching institute Vidwan celebrated the success of its 242 students who cleared the JEE (Main). Institute topper Subhrajeet Panda, who scored 313, said: "I thank God, my parents and my coaching centre."

All-India Pre-Medical Test

Medical aspirants, on the other hand, are gearing up for the All-India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) scheduled for May 1 for admissions to MBBS and BDS courses. The examination of May 1 will be treated as the first round of the National Eligibility Entrance Test. About 50,000 students from Odisha have registered for AIPMT.

The Supreme Court on Thursday made it clear that all other admission tests, already held or scheduled for later, for admission to government colleges, deemed universities, private medical colleges, minority and linguistic minority colleges, stand scrapped.

Hence, students who had opted for entrance exams of Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences and Siksha 'O' Anusandhan University (two private universities offering medical courses in the state) and did not register for AIPMT will be given opportunity to appear in the second round of the examinations on July 24.

The combined result will be declared on August 17 in order to complete the admission process by September 30 - a deadline set by the apex court in its previous orders.
