Cuttack, May 22: Badambadi police today arrested two officials of Ragupatee Builders, including its managing director Pravat Nanda, while investigating into various land irregularities by the real estate company.
Nanda and another employee Gitanjali Acharya were taken into custody for allegedly duping two persons.
Manjulata Sahoo of Madhupatna, had lodged a complaint with the police stating that they had applied for a plot at Banapur under Cuttack Sadar in 2003. They had paid Rs 1.20 lakh for a 4,800sqft plot of land in 2003 and so far the company had not given them the possession of the land.
The company officials, however, claimed that the allegations were baseless. A notice was given to Sahoo, as she had not paid the full amount for the plot under its Jyotsna vihar project.
“According to the agreement, the customer was supposed to pay Rs 1.62 lakh for the plot. But because of non-payment of entire amount, the agreement was cancelled,” said a senior official of the company.
Police said Gitanjali Acharya, another employee, was arrested for duping a customer in Athgarh. The accused had allegedly taken Rs 45,000 from a complainant for providing him a land, which was not handed over to him.
