Bhubaneswar, June 11: Many candidates and parents struggling with the online registration for Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) counselling thronged the OJEE cell here today.
The applicants had diverse queries and a common allegation that their calls the most of the helpline numbers were going unanswered.
A list of 10 helpline numbers has been provided on www.ojee.nic.in.
“I have not been able to log in and proceed to the choice filling option. It was not accepting the password though my registration was successful. There was no response on the helpline numbers,” said Abhijit, an engineering aspirant.
Even a request mail on the OJEE secretary’s email address, seeking advice has not been entertained, he alleged.
Amit Kumar Swain, who had come to the OJEE cell from Cuttack, said every candidate was given a 16-digit barcode before the entrance exam, but when he tried to enter it on the registration webpage last evening, it generated an error message.
“Since then, I have been trying to seek help from the officials but got no response on the helpline numbers,” said Amit.
Personnel at the OJEE cell said: “How do we attend every call when students and their parents have been queuing up here since last evening? All our helpline numbers are working,” said one of them.
Secretary of the OJEE committee Priyabrat Sahoo said: “Candidates and parents are facing problems as they had not gone through the information brochure.”
Technical experts said the “faulty website design” needed attention as most queries were related to password being rejected during log-in.
“A candidate has to enter a password of minimum eight and maximum 13 characters. But when one enters a 14-character password, it shows the registration is successful. But after that, one cannot access the choice-filling page,” said Rabindra Pradhan, officer at the National Informatics Centre in Balasore.
