Digital library at Xavier - XUB goes hi-tech

Bhubaneswar, Oct. 16: The Xavier University, Bhubaneswar, today launched the Xavier Digital University, a library with several high-end technologies.

Billed as ‘the first digital university’ in the country, the technology is aimed to provide 21st century IT experience to students as well as faculty of the institute.

The highlights of the digital library are — Portal (a single entry, one-stop solution for managing teaching, research, students, programmes, campuses and other administrative tasks), SIMS (a multi-purpose management software for improved management of the overall system by the administration) Videobook (an award winning technology that sources relevant and contextual videos for learning), My Room (a new-age solution to enable and empower students to connect with their lecturers) and Skillport (a learning tool, which provides high content repository).

Fr. Paul Fernandes S.J., vice-chancellor and director, XIMB, Xavier University, said that with changing times, the needs of future managers had changed and therefore the methodologies to train them must be contemporary.

Mayank Jha, regional manager, Career Education, IBM, spoke about the possibility of IBM co-developing new programmes with Xavier University for the next academic year.
