Bhubaneswar, July 14: Taking a cue from Trinamool Congress MP and actor Mithun Chakraborty, Odia cine star Uttam Mohanty today said that if the Economic Offences Wing could prove that he had received any money from Ponzi firm Oscar Group, he would instantly refund the amount.
The Oscar Group reportedly illegally collected investments to the tune of Rs 230 crore from investors.
The veteran actor took the decision at a time when talks of him being summoned by the investigating agency are doing the rounds. Mohanty is also alleged to have promoted the Oscar Group through two stage shows in Surat. The Economic Offences Wing had arrested the chairman of Oscar Group, Pravash Chandra Rout, on June 9.
Mohanty told The Telegraph that he was ready to return Rs 30,000 that he had received for acting in To Akhire Mu to the Economic Offences Wing any time if it asked for it.
"I have received the money from the group for acting in To Akhire Mu, in which my son Babushan played the lead role. I am ready to repay the amount if it is proved that the movie was produced from the hard-earned money of gullible investors. I will fully cooperate with the investigating agency," Mohanty said.
