Kohima, Feb. 24: The Sub-Divisional Planning And Development Board was inaugurated at Noklak by Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio today.

The chief minister unveiled the monolith on the additional deputy commissioner’s office premises at Noklak in the presence of the additional chief secretary and development commissioner, Nagaland, Alemtemshi Jamir, minister for soil and water conservation P. Longon, parliamentary secretary, fisheries, S. Heno, and adviser to village guards Kijong Chang.

The programme was attended by administrative officials, social activists and residents.

Rio said the development board was a policy of the state government and it would be economically beneficial for the people.

He also promised to look into the government policy on road connectivity in the area.

The programme was chaired by additional deputy commissioner, Noklak, S. Tainiu.

The welcome address was delivered by the president of Khiamniungan Tribal Council, W. Chuba Lam.

The programme concluded with the performances of several cultural troupes.

Rio also inaugurated the village guards museum-cum-memorial hall at Pangsha near the Indo-Myanmar border under Noklal sub-division today.

The chief minister laid a wreath at the memorial of the jawans who had sacrificed their life in the line of duty.

The Nagaland Village Guards was founded and first established on March 1, 1957, at Pangsha village of Tuensang division of Arunachal Pradesh.
