Shillong, June 9: Royal Wahingdoh regained the top spot in the under-18 Shillong Premier League here today with a 3-0 victory over Malki.
Rheadolf Nongeng produced a brace of goals, while Remark Kharmalki scored the third to take the junior Royals to provisional first place with 10 points after round four.
A solo run and shot from Nongneng saw RWFC take the lead in the 23rd minute, but Wahingdoh were soon reduced to 10 players after Rakesh was shown a red card for a reckless challenge.
Malki, however, were unable to make their advantage in numbers on the pitch count and the two teams went into the lemon break with the score unchanged. Wahingdoh then gave themselves some breathing space when Nongneng headed the ball into the net just past the hour mark. Kharmalki slammed in a strike in the 78th minute to make it 3-0.
RWFC is the only unbeaten team in the competition, but even so, they are just a solitary point ahead of Nangkiew Irat, who have nine. Shillong Lajong are in the third place with seven points.
