Agartala, May 17: The Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) has come under scanner again over its answerscript evaluation system.

Sources in the board said teachers evaluating the answerscripts of the Madhyamik and Higher Secondary examinations have been asked to check 44 papers a day to meet the Supreme Court deadline on result publication.

?To meet the June 10 deadline, the examiners have to work from 10 am to at least 8 pm, which is a gruelling routine. This is a sure way to introduce errors in evaluation,? a source said.

The board has made it clear that unless a teacher evaluated 44 answerscripts a day, he would not be allowed to continue working as an examiner. Allegations and controversies have become part of the examination process because of the haste in which the examiners are forced to submit marksheets.

?Earlier, there used to be intense lobbying among the teachers to enrol as examiners. However, the interest waned when the teachers found that the remuneration was quite low,? he said.

Most wanted

Militants continue to be on the state police?s ?most wanted? list long after they have fallen to security forces? bullets, thanks to the unrevised state police website.

In 2002, the state police posted the names and photographs of 58 militants on the Tripura police?s official website, tripurapolice.nic.in, announcing cash rewards for the arrest of the militants.

The site also contains photographs of rebels who surrendered on May 6 last year.

Senior police officials evaded the issue, saying, ?These things are taken care of by the National Informatics Centre, the official website of the state government, but we are preparing a revised list.?
