Guwahati, Jan. 22: The Telegraph and Focus NE registered thumping victories in their respective matches of the TG Baruah Media T-20 Cricket Tournament at Judges Field here today.

In the first match of the day, Focus NE thrashed G-Plus by 10 wickets. Put in to bat, G-Plus put up 116 runs for seven wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Suraj Sarma topscored for his side with 51 runs off 62 balls while Sangeet Jain contributed 15 runs off 21 deliveries. Kaustav Chakroborty with 14 runs off 17 balls was the other notable contributor.

Arindom Choudhury picked up three wickets conceding 18 runs in four overs while Pranab Das scalped two wickets giving away 23 runs.

Chasing the total, Focus NE batsmen eased past the target without losing a wicket in 11 overs. Manabendra Das remained unbeaten with 55 runs off 39 deliveries including nine hits to the fence and one over the ropes while Lakhyajit Gogoi was not out with 50 runs off 33 balls which featured seven boundaries and a six. Manabendra Deka was named Man of the Match.

The Telegraph eased past Ajir Dainik Batori by nine wickets in the other match of the day. Put in to bat, Ajir Dainik Batori batsmen failed to stay in the middle for long as the side went on to be all out for 46 runs in 12.2 overs. Prasanta Pratim Dutta was the lone batsman to reach the double figure mark with a run a ball 12 runs. Mukut Das was the wrecker-in-chief with four wickets to his kitty for seven runs in 2.2 overs while Mayur Kaushik Das and Ratul Hazarika scalped two wickets each.

Chasing a small total, The Telegraph batsmen got past the target losing one wicket in 4.3 overs. Kausav Baruah remained unbeaten with 19 runs off 15 deliveries including two hits to the fence. Arnab Baruah picked up the lone wicket to fall conceding 13 runs in two overs. Mukut Das walked away with the Man of the Match honour.

Assam Sports Journalists Association will play Dainik Janasadharan in the first match of the day tomorrow while DY365 will face Dainik Janambhumi in the other match.
