Dibrugarh, April 7: Phoenix Club, Sivasagar entered the semi-final of the Rafiur Rahman Invitation Inter-Club Cricket Tournament, defeating Railway Workshop Divisional Sports Club, Dibrugarh by 43 runs in the first quarter-final at the Dibrugarh DSA outdoor stadium today.
The railmen won the toss and asked the Sivasagar side to bat.
Sivasagar made 189 losing nine wickets in 40 overs.
Amit Agarwal topscored with a 53-run knock off 52 balls, with five boundaries and two sixes. Biswajit Gogoi made 42 off 59 balls with two boundaries.
The team also got 30 runs as extras.
For the railway side, left-arm spinner Jayanta Narayan Saikia and medium pacer Pabitra Konwar claimed three wickets each, giving away 20 and 29 runs respectively.
In reply, the railway side was bundled out for 146 in 36 overs. Rajesh Paul was the topscorer remaining unbeaten on 58.
He faced 98 balls and hit nine boundaries.
Pabitra Konwar made 21 from 46 balls with two boundaries and one six.
For Phoenix, medium pacers Bharat Newar picked up three wickets for 29 runs while Abhinov Konwar took two for 28 runs.
Amit Agarwal was named Man of the Match.
Jeoti Morol Sangha will play against Naharkatia Sports Association in the second quarter-final tomorrow.
