Kohima, Aug. 6: The AICC today dissolved the Nagaland PCC to revamp the faction-riven party that suffered a humiliating defeat in the March Assembly elections.

This decision was also aimed at capping the internal differences in the party.

The AICC has appointed parliamentary secretary, Congress Legislature Party, K.V. Pusa, as the ad hoc president of the PCC with immediate effect — a move that has raised the hackles of Hokheto Sumi who said he was “unceremoniously” removed from the post and the decision had “hurt” him to some extent.

He, however, was quick to add that though he was pained by the way he had been removed, he would continue to serve the Congress and ruled out joining any other party.

The former PCC chief said he had been with the Congress for many years and there was no reason why he should quit.

Last month, the AICC axed former CLP leader I. Imkong Ao and appointed Chingwang Konyak as the new CLP leader.
