The Assam government has directed all deputy commissioners to sanction all MLA area development schemes within 45 days after receiving the proposals from the legislators. This step is being taken to further simplify the existing guidelines. chemes amounting to Rs 30 lakh for each Assembly constituency have to be recommended by June according to guidelines and for the current year, schemes would have to be submitted by August. The government has said there can be no change in the schemes after they are sanctioned. Assam revenue minister Mithius Tudu has said the current joint patta system has had some effect on revenue collection. He said the government is encouraging partition of estates and issuance of individual pattas. The Assam Secondary Education (Provincialisation) Service Rules, 1982 are being amended to fill up the vacant posts of high schools and higher secondary schools. ducation minister Pankaj Bora said such vacant posts could be considered only after enforcement of the amended rules. Numaligarh Refinery Ltd (NRL) has received level VIII certification under the protocol of international safety rating system by Det Norske Veritas (DNV), Norway. The company has already received the management system certifications for quality, environment and occupational health. The public accounts committee of the Assam Assembly has asked the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority to construct its own building in the larger public interest as well as to shape greater Guwahati in the right perspective well in time. A free medical camp was organised by Assam Pradesh Congress Relief Committee at Udiyan lower primary school in Udiyana village under Rangiya constituency. Altogether 382 people received free medicines.Running of trains during night hours will be suspended on NF Railway from August 14 to 16 owing to security reasons. The trains to be affected include the 5609 Awadh-Assam Express, 5610 Awadh-Assam Express and the 5652 Jammu-Guwahati Lohit Express.
