Kohima, Jan. 18: The AICC has postponed the organisational elections of the Nagaland PCC for a year.

At present, K. Therie is an ad hoc president of the PCC but several party leaders have been demanding his removal.

"The party had deferred the elections by a year," a senior Congress leader said.

Several party leaders, from the districts and constituencies, have tried to remove Therie for his alleged anti-party activities but the AICC had refused to listen to the demands of the dissidents and subsequently several top party leaders were expelled.

The expelled PCC members include Supongmeren Ao, Nillo Rengma, Vaprumo Demo; Konngam, Sulanthung, H. Chuba and the two Congress members, include Prasilie Pienyu and G.K. Rengma.

The PCC president said the executive has recommended disciplinary action against four AICC members - K.V. Pusa, Asu Keyho, Joshua Sumi and Tarie Zeliang.

The expelled Congress members were contemplating the formation of a party calling it Nagaland Congress, projecting former minister Nillo Rengma as the new party's president.

The dissidents have blamed Therie for the current state of affairs in the party.

Sources said those expelled members still wanted to rejoin the party and that could be possible if Therie was removed as PCC president.

Congress insiders said Therie was leading a minority faction of the Congress but the party high command in Delhi has remained deaf to the demands of party workers and supporters.

The Congress in the state is now without a single MLA in the House of 60.
