Kokrajhar, June 23: The All Bodo Students' Union (Absu) and the NDFB (P) today submitted a memorandum to the joint secretary, ministry of home affairs (in charge of Northeast), Satyendra Garg, for an amicable solution to the long-pending "Bodoland" issue by resuming talks with the Centre and the Bodo groups.
The memorandum was signed by Absu president Promod Boro, vice-president Dipen Boro, NDFB (P) chairman B. Sungthagra and its general secretary B. Swmkhwr.
The memorandum stated in its last negotiation, the government had promised the Bodo leaders that if it took any policy decision on creation of a new state, the demand for a "Bodoland" state would be considered, but "most unfortunately the Bodoland issue was forgotten during the time of formation of Telangana".
The memorandum also said the NDFB (P) has been in ceasefire agreement with the Centre since 2005 with a holistic approach to build a conducive atmosphere to resolve the issue through peaceful means.
"At that time, all political organisations of the Bodo and non-Bodo communities of the region extended their support in the process and expected an amicable solution of the problem," the memorandum said.
