Guwahati, Dec. 22: The Assam government will introduce a comprehensive, cashless medical scheme for government employees, pensioners and their dependents.
This was announced by chief minister Tarun Gogoi during a meeting with the Sodou Asom Karmachari Parishad (SAKP) at the Assam Secretariat here today.
The state government has around 4,80,000 employees in the state at present.
The meeting was held to discuss and resolve various issues of the employees and pensioners of the state.
Gogoi said his government would announce the arrears that would be disbursed to the employees before Magh Bihu.
On the payment of muster roll workers on a par with grade IV employees, Gogoi said the matter was under consideration by the empowered committee constituted for the purpose and that the decision will be taken after the submission of the report by the committee.
Conceding to the demand of the SAKP, Gogoi said necessary modalities to declare Kati Bihu as a government holiday would be completed soon.
