Imphal, April 16: Champion boxer Mangte Chuneijang Mary Kom added another feather to her cap when she was awarded the Tejaswini award given to young women achievers for 2010.
Mary Kom could not be contacted as she is undergoing training at Bhopal for her forthcoming Asian Championship at Kazakhstan in May this year.
However, when The Telegraph contacted her husband Onlar Kom, he said it was great honour for Mary and that he was very happy for her.
Mary Kom, is the defending world champion in the women’s 48kg category for the fourth time. She had earlier bagged Arjuna Award in 2003, was conferred Padmashree in 2005 and the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award in 2009 for her contribution to women’s boxing.
