Guwahati, May 13: Mangaldoi registered a convincing six-wicket victory over Udalguri in the inaugural match of the third Umananda Bora under-13 inter-district cricket tournament at Nehru Stadium here today.

Put in to bat, Udalguri batsmen could only manage 110 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 25 overs. Roshan Sharma topscored for his side with a patient knock of 37 runs, slamming three hits to the fence, while Rittik Mahanta remained unbeaten on 16 runs off 28 deliveries, hitting a boundary.

Suman Koirala was the only other batsman to reach double figures with 14 runs off 18 balls.

Chanakya Dev Sharma, Arindam Talukdar and Ibul Ali picked up two wickets each for their side.

In reply, Mangaldoi batsmen got past the target losing four wickets in 22 overs.

Koustav Limbu topscored with 43 runs off 62 balls, which featured five hits to the fence, while Ibul Ali remained unbeaten on 15 runs off 36 deliveries, with one boundary. Opener Rahan Zaman contributed 10 runs off 24 balls. Rajdeep Sharma bagged two wickets conceding 34 runs in his three overs while Rittik Mahanta took one wicket going for 19 runs in his allotted five overs.

In the other match of the day, Tezpur were awarded a walkover because of the absence of Lakhipur.

Bajali will play Kaliabor in the first match of the day tomorrow while Mangaldoi will face Tezpur in the second.
