Guwahati, May 6: DD Hurricanes clinched an eight-run win against Centenary Spartans XI in their league encounter of the ongoing 1st GTC-LNJ Corporate Champions League T20 cricket tournament at Judges Field here today.

Electing to bat, Hurricanes posted 167 for eight and the Spartans were restricted to 159 for nine in the 20 overs.

E. Aswin (39, 4x7), Arminder Singh Oberoi (36, 4x5, 6x1), Sibsankar Roy (34, 6x3) and Sanjiv Martin (33, 4x1, 6x2) were the main scorers for the Hurricanes. Nipon Deka of Spartans notched up three wickets for 34 runs and Mantu Das chipped in with two for 27.

Romario Sharma topscored for Centenary Spartans with 35 (4x1, 6x4), while Wasiqur Rahman remained not out on 30 (4x2, 6x2). Nitin Das (23, 4x2, 6x1) and Hokaito Zhimomi (20, 4x1, 6x1) were the other notable scorers for the side. Deepak Gohain, J. Joel Josheph and Sibsankar Roy of Hurricanes bagged two wickets each, conceding 28, 31 and 17 runs respectively.

Chess: The 25th edition of PC Borooah chess tournament will be held at Shilpgram here from May 11 to 15. The meet, open to students below 16 years, will be an international Fide rated event with a prize money of Rs 70,000.
