Guwahati, Feb. 20: Fairyland High School entered the final of the Guwahati Sports Association’s Aboy Sankar and Asrafur Rahim inter-school cricket tournament at Dispur ground today.

In another match of the day, Srimanta Sankar Academy beat Cotton Collegiate HS School by eight wickets.

In the semifinal played in the afternoon, it was a walkover for Fairyland against last edition’s runners-up Bengali Boys’ HS School as they could not field a team for the tournament following the recent fire on the school premises that damaged the equipment.

In the last quarterfinal tie, Cotton Collegiate elected to bat first and were bundled out for 76 in 17.1 overs with Pragyan Goswami of Sankar Academy scalping five wickets for 10 runs in three overs.

Raju Mikir topscored for Cotton Collegiate with 26 runs while Rojit Ali chipped in with 11. Kaustav Kashyap Gogoi (10) was the only other batsman to score in double digits.

For Sanakar Academy, who romped home losing only two wickets in 10.4 overs, Subhankar Chakraborty topscored with an undefeated 37 off only 18 balls slamming five boundaries and two sixes. Rahul Hazarika scored 25 (4x4) and Arijit Barua made 10.

Defending champions Don Bosco will play Sankar Academy in the second semifinal tomorrow.
