Hailakandi, Feb. 5: Aslam Faridi added two feathers to his cap when he emerged champion in the under-12 and under-16 boys’ categories of the badminton meet organised by the District Sports Association (DSA), Karimganj.

The two-day meet, organised by the DSA as part of its golden jubilee celebrations, ended today.

In the under-12 girls’ event, Brinda Dutta, the only contestant, was awarded the title.

The Salman Faridi and Banibrata Choudhury tandem defeated Pratap Sinha and Pradip Sinha to win the under-12 boys’ doubles. Kismat Sultana and Priya Das paired up to defeat Najira Begum Laskar and Rumki Das in the under-16 girls’ doubles final.

The Mujakkir Hussain and Md Iqbal tandem won the under-16 boys’ doubles while the veteran doubles title went to Farid Uddin and Bipul Choudhury. Pratap Sinha was awarded the Most Talented Player of the Tournament.
