Guwahati, Jan. 24: The Centre has proposed to construct 11 new foodgrain godowns at different locations in Assam to strengthen the public distribution system. These godowns would be constructed or expanded by the FCI, will add to foodgrain storage capacity of 3,47,000 metric tonnes in Assam. Dhubri: Altogether 11 houses were gutted in a fire at Japusabari village in the district on Wednesday night. Property worth Rs 12 lakh was destroyed. Fire broke out from an oil lamp in the house.
