Guwahati, Oct. 7: Fide-rated player and top seed Chiraranjan Bhuyan annexed the title of the 11th P.C. Borooah First Sunday Chess Tournament held at the P.C. Borooah Chess Academy here yesterday.

He scored a perfect six from six rounds. In the final round, Chiraranjan beat second seed Khanindra Barman with the white piece.

Chiraranjan started his campaign by beating Barchilina Talukdar in the first round and Anmol Bharadwaj in the second.

He faced a stiff challenge from youngster Uddipta Kakati in the third round but managed to eventually emerge the winner.

In the fourth and fifth rounds, he beat promising youngsters Nitish Das and Prachurjya Gayan through tough contests.
